The KJ Essentials Baby Bean Bag
Our baby bean bags make the comfiest spot to safely rest bub while freeing up mum. They come in a variety of colours making them the perfect addition to any room in the home.
When filled with polystyrene balls you have the ability to move the beans around so bub can sit up at any angle. This enables bub to sit up comfortably to digest after a feed or lie down for a snuggly rest. They are lightweight and portable and can be moved from room to room or from mothers group to the grandparents house. They come with a built in 3 point safety harness suitable for newborns. They also have a plain top for toddlers and kids up to 30kg. Both tops can be easily zipped on or off to wash or swap.
We currently have two types of baby bean bags being the standard and the deluxe. The main differences between them are the base of the Deluxe baby bean bag is made from waterproof and stain proof fabric. It is a thicker & stronger yet softer fabric than that of the standard. The Deluxe tops are also padded and made with water resistant fabric. Whereas the standard tops are made with a single layer of non waterproof micro suede.

They also make the perfect baby shower gift!!
When filled with beans, the baby bean bag is so wonderfully soft. This is why baby bean bags are so great, as the beans mould around bub making it so comfy to relax in.
Baby bean bags are delivered unfilled. To fill your baby bean bag, you will need to purchase standard polystyrene bean bag beans from any department store. You will need about 60L of a 100L bag for a newborn. As bub grows, empty out a few beans at a time to make it more comfy
DO NOT OVERFILL your bag. When properly filled, bub should be able to snuggle into it and not sit on top. The shape should be similar to a nest with your bub snuggled in the middle, rather than a stuffed cushion.
As bub grows in size, it is essential to empty some beans out to make room for bub. When they are old enough to sit, you should only have have 50L of beans in the bag to allow them space to sit in it and use the top part as a back rest. Check out our Gallery page for pics of our customers.
Use the paper clip provided to open both the zips to the inside.
Fill your bean bag in a clean dry bath tub with the plug in the sink to avoid runaway beans.
The two easiest ways to fill your bag are
1) – make a funnel out of a rolled up piece of cardboard and secure with packing tape
– insert the funnel 3/4 into the inner liner of your bag and tighten the zipper around it
– snip the top corner off your bag of beans
– have another hold your funnel set up and zipper tight while you pour the beans in
2) – get a standard size bucket with pouring spout
– snip the top corner off your baby of beans
– pour beans in to the bucket
– pour beans from the bucket into the baby bean bag
Safety Zip Operation
All of our baby bean bags have had their zip pulls removed for safety as per the Australian guidelines. To operate your zip, pop the included paperclip under the little metal latch that is inside the hole in the zipper head. Then lift it a little to unlock it and slide it along as you would a normal zipper. Remove the paperclip after you have finished using the zipper.
If your zip is still stuck take out the zip and pop it in to the other part of the hole. Have a look at the hole and you will see it is divided in half by a metal arm. If you put it in the top section of this hole it remains locked in place, in the other section it glides easily.

Safety is our first concern at KJ Essentials. We are diligent in ensuring all our products meet or exceed the strict Australian Standards.
With our bean bags, we have not one but two safety zippers in place to ensure little hands cannot access the filling. This means double the precaution, and twice the safety.
Safety zips can be operated by using a paperclip in place of the zip pull.

The safety harness is a secure 3 point safety harness that is to be secured around bubs hips and waist ensuring they are not only safe but comfortable. Every seam on our bean bags are over locked and double stitched for strength, durability and above all else, safety.
When you rest your baby on a KJ Essentials baby bean bag you can rest assured they are safe and sound.
DO NOT OVERFILL the baby bean bag, as when strapped in with the 3 point safety harness, if bub wriggles off the baby bean bag they may pull the bean bag on top of them.
Do not under fill the baby bean bag as the casing may fold over on top of bub and restrict breathing.
The KJ Essentials baby bean bag and plush baby mats are not sleeping devices. Babies and young children should only be allowed to use bean bags under the strictest of supervision. Cots and portable cots that meet Australian standards are the safest choice for your baby’s sleeping environment.
